EMU Flag

The flag of the European Mappers Union.

The Darkfall of the European Mappers Union, also known as the Darkfall when referred to in the context of EMU, was a rebellion and the ensuing de facto collapse of the European Mappers Union on April 29, 2016.

On April 29, the owner of the European Mappers Union, Netryno Mapper, purged all inactive and poor quality mappers from the community. The rest of the community rose up against Netryno, and the community was reduced to anarchy, losing 75% of its member count[1]. Many rebels split off into their own communities, and one of these, the Democratic European Mappers Union, eventually overtook its father, leaving it defunct.

The Darkfall of the European Mappers Union gave birth to the EMU Children, which went on to be extremely influential in Mapperdonia, leading up to the creation of The First Mapping Community.

Timeline of Events[]

Netryno's Purge[]

On April 29, 2016, Netryno Mapper addressed the European Mappers Union and said that he would be banning inactive and, in his opinion, poor quality mappers. 34 mappers were kicked from the community. The rest of the community rebelled and began raiding the Google Plus page, reducing EMU to chaos. The member count dropped to 18, and Netryno and his administration repaired the page and attempted to regain its former members, yet mostly failed.

EMU Patricide[]

After Netryno's Purge, several members of EMU split off into their own democratic communities, which would eventually be known as the EMU Children. These were:

  • The Democratic European Mappers Union, created by Quality Mapping and MultiMapping.
  • The New European Mappers Union, created by Zappod Mapping.
  • The Mappers Union, created by Geron Mapping and Imperial Saxon Mapping. It was also created with the intention of being democratic, yet Imperial Saxon grew to distrust his peer and became the sole owner of the Union.

After the Purge, Netryno attempted to regain complete control of the former EMU member base. However, after a week, the Democratic European Mappers Union proved to be the most successful, and the European Mappers Union was dissolved, with the DEMU becoming its successor. NEMU accepted that DEMU was the true successor, and Mappers Union went in its own direction, eventually merging with the Civilized Community for Mappers to create The First Mapping Community.
