Grand Mapper: Tides of the Atlantic is the third installment of a Discord competition run by Ankhor, this one starting in April 2019, lasting to late May 2019.

The competition is a game that tests both social skill and mapping skills. It is loosely based on Survivor and is hosted on a Discord Server. The winner of Grand Mapper will receive a month of Nitro Classic on Discord and a free Paradox DLC of their choice.

Teams of mappers (called Unions) will go head-to-head in challenges where they try to better their opponent. After each challenge, the losing Union will have to come together and vote one of their own members out of the contest. They can vote out threats to win, their weakest in challenges or just straight up inactive people.

Nearing the end of the competition, the Unions will merge together and the challenges become individual. Only one person can win these challenges and they will be immune from votes for one round. People voted out from the merged Union will become Jury Members and play a role by casting a vote on who wins the competition from the finalists.

This season's theme is Tides of the Atlantic, which is essentially a cultural battle between the two Unions which are America VS Europe.

At the end, Royal Mapping won the game, beating Burgenti Mapping and Etiennal in a vote of 5-2-1 at the Final 3.

Gameplay Updates

• New Tiebreaker Policy: If a vote is tied, the next day will be a dedicated revote, where you can only vote for the players that are in the tie. This tiebreaker will push the schedule ahead by a day. If we have a second tiebreaker on the revote, the players tied in the vote will become immune there will be a random draw between all non-immune players.

• Live Eliminations: Eliminations will now become live. The Union that is facing elimination will leave their Union Chat and move to an exclusive elimination chat that all the spectators can see. The host will ask questions about the vote to the players from time to time, to liven up the atmosphere.

Twists and Advantages

• America VS Europe: The two starting Unions of the Season will be based upon the place that each player lives in. One Union will be completely comprised of players who only live in the American continents, whereas the other Union is completely comprised of players who live in Europe. Various challenges in the season will also be based off of this theme as well.
• Temptations: During many points in the game, the players would be able to sacrifice immunity for a chance at a advantage in the game. This was all done in private and players who picked the option for an advantage would be kept a secret.
• Hidden Immunity Idol: Before the votes are read, a player with a hidden immunity idol is given the ability to play it. The idol allows to cancel all votes cast against the player and can only be used if there are five or more players left in the game.
• Double Elimination: Both Unions would attend elimination at the same time, and would compete in an Individual Immunity Challenge against their teammates instead of playing for Team Immunity.
• Union Swap: The two original Unions would swap players between the Unions.
• Exile Chat: Due to an uneven number in the swap, one player would be exiled to their own chat instead of being in a Union, joining the losing elimination after the next elimination. They would have a choice between a challenge advantage, idol advantage and voting advantage. The Voting Advantage was chosen and gave the selector a Triple Vote and 2 Vote Cancellations against one member of each Union.
• Union Merge: At some point in the game, the unions will merge together and the game will become individual.
• Extra Vote: This allows a player to cast two votes instead of one.
• Vote Steal: This allows a player to steal a vote from another player and use it themselves.
• Double Hidden Immunity Idol: A Hidden Immunity Idol that could be used on two players at once.
• Tiebreaker Vote: At the Final 4 Elimination, the person who won Immunity, would get an Extra Vote to use if they were caught in a tied vote.
• Jury Members: Some players voted out of the merged union will become a Jury Member, and will get to vote on the winner of the game from the Final 3.
