The Mapping Central Station (known until April 2021 as the Mapperdonian Station) was a Discord inter-server hub. It was created on October 28, 2018, by YourFriendlyNeighbourhoodGeorge, although the concept can be dated back earlier. Anchor Mapping and Galack were also at one point owners, but they both left the project. It was also owned by BasqueBall and, until the time of its death, Sabyrcus. The Station was moderated by a team of Yardmasters.

Servers partnered with the Mapperdonian Station by applying (usually by DMing a Yardmaster). Then, a special channel was made that only the owner of that server (and all Yarmasters) could type in, wher|e they were free to advertise their server and announce news as they pleased. The station also occasionally showed statistics throughout Mapperdonia and had a list of raiders.

The Mapperdonian Station became extremely popular and spawned the Server Hub style of server, eventually inspiring servers such as United Mapping and the Globus Network. However, most of these spinoffs paled in member count to the Station. The Station also launched branches in Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish. Some criticized the Mapperdonian Station, claiming it gave raiders more links to other servers to raid. On August 18, 2021, the Station was transferred to East Begium Mapping (EBM) and was later nuked.

2019 nuke up to 2020

The Mapperdonian Station was nuked by Protonian on July 3, 2019, yet he eventually apologized. It was restored the next day.

The station recovered quite successfully, but not without competition at first.

Taking advantage of the nuke, Mapper Station was created by Venant Mapping as an alternative to the original. Mapper Station was also advetised by known raider T-Series Mapping in the form of threats to those who partnered with the Mapperdonian Station instead of Mapper Station. Eventually, Venant deleted the server and said it was a joke.

The station regained its position by early 2020, but not for long, as the Fools Nuke would take place on April 2, 2020.

Fools nuke and aftermath

The Fools nuke took place on the 2nd of April, 2020 and affected two major servers: the Diarchy of Mapping and Mapperdonian Station.

The station was nuked by Venant with the help of Doom, who was a staff member at the time. The attack was planned on a voice call that took place in the Grand Mapper Discord server, which was later renamed to Mapperdonia.

This nuke was a major reason for George's departure, and BasqueBall was put in charge of Mapperdonain Station.

Recovery and current state

The server lost around half of its member count during the nuke, going from around 1100 users to approximately 500.

BasqueBall gained ownership of the Station around May 2020. The staff decided to leave the nuke behind and focus their efforts on the recovery of the server. By June, the Station had surpassed 900 members. New features were added in the form of new chats for partners and the return of monthly stats, which had been abandoned after the 2019 nuke. The server also hosted Mapper Tournament 16, with Eastern Mapping being awarded the victory.

The station later surpassed the Diarchy of Mapping in terms of member count, thus becoming the largest non-YouTuber mapping server.

As of the 23rd November 2020, the Mapperdonian Station had 1470 members, the highest member count in the server's history up to that point.

Sabyrcus's ownership and later death

In December 2020, Basque handed ownership over to Sabyrcus, as he wanted to take a break from the mapping community. Sabyrcus kept Basque's momentum going, and by June 2021 the Station had reached two thousand members, making it one of the biggest servers in the mapping community. In April, the staff took submissions for a new name and, after a vote, the server was rebranded as the Mapping Central Station.

Unfortunately for the server, things took a turn for the worse as in August that year East Belgian Mapping (EBM) falsely reported Sabyrcus's account, leaving the server without an owner for a few weeks. In the meantime SZ and Rexowogamer acted as the owners of the station with Rexo being responsible for all the decision making and actual owner work while SZ only acted as the owner through public appearances which put him under the pressure of the raider community. Saby later made a deal with EBM, successfully appealed the account's disablement with his help, and in exchange handed EBM ownership. EBM and the other raiders wanted to continue running the station as it was in order to have power over the community, something EBM wanted to achieve for several months, but was later nuked by an unknown person due to a stray role with admin privileges one of the new owners made which was given to the nuker via a simple bot command. Some speculate it was one of those new owners who made the role who wanted to nuke the server, meanwhile others say that one of the former yardmasters did it out of spite. As a result of the nuking, the server lost ~1800 members and all of its channels, since then it has been rebuilt but as a hub for raider servers.

As of June 2021, the following people were staff of the Station:

How to Apply

To apply to partner with the Station, a server had to have at least 30 members and its main genre had to be mapping.

After this, the server will needwas required to set up a channel for the station. It needed to be the first channel visible in the server, preferably in the server's iformation section, if they had one. Nobody was able to access that channel except the server owner, as only one message would ever be sent there;

The [Server Name] is a partner of the Mapperdonian Station; the hub of all mapping communities! Here, every mapping community, no matter the platform, is represented with their own special channel they may use to advertise and post major updates. Use the station to be more in touch with the community, get inspiration for your own community, and help better unite mapping!

After the channel was made and the owner had pinged @everyone, an invite to the server was sent to a staff member privately. The server was quickly reviewed to make sure it fulfilled the requirements, and then the owner was given the Server Owner rank and a special channel was made that only they could type in.

The restrictions changed over time. The minimum member requirement was 15 members, then 30 human members, then 30 total members. The message sent also evolved, and in latter months the server only needed a channel for partners instead of a Station-specific one.

  • George has stated that ceplio was the regent of the Station.
